Marathon Man kicked into high gear in late summer, with consecutive PR’s in events leading up to the marathon in Minnesota.
8/18/05 – Old New Castle Run (5 mi.)
Popular race in historic New Castle. 34:35 was good enough for 33rd place.
9/10/05 – Bottle & Cork (10 mi.)
Fun weekend at Dewey Beach…oh, yeah, and a time of 69:41 to put me 6th in my age group (out of 50).
9/18/05 – Philadelphia Distance Run (13.1 mi.)
Two weeks prior to TCM, 1:33:34 shattered a half-marathon PR! But the sports drink was horrible.

Thursday 8/18/05: Old New Castle Run
Instead of our customary Thursday evening run at Delcastle Recreation Area (steps from Marathon Man’s residence), the Rebel Runners assembled in New Castle for this popular 5 mile race.
It winds back and forth through the streets of historic Old New Castle, starting and ending at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Great food and cold beer after the race, while a DJ played music in the large parking lot. You can bet we’ll return next year!
